Vocab #2 Fall


1.) Obesity: the condition of being grossly fat or overweight
Obesity has become very popular in our world today.

2.) Accumulate: to gather together an increasing number or quantity of

The teachers will accumulate grades at the end of a semester.
3.) Mass a coherent, typically large body of matter with no definite shape
The mass of the older lady is way too large.

4.) Disease a disorder of structure or function in a human, animals, or plant, esp. one that produces
certain signs
The lady has a disease and you can't even tell!

5.) Diet the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats
I need to start going on a diet.

6.) Prevalence: a fact or condition of being prevalent; commonness
There is a prevalence of obesity in adults.

7.) Stigma: a mark of disgrace associated with a certain circumstance or person
My aunt had a stigma in her eye.

8.) Prevent(able): being able to "stop" something
Obesity couldn't most defiantly be prevented.

8.) Adolescent: going from a child to a adult
There will always be adolescent.

9.) Cardiovascular: of or relating to the heart and blood vessels
Cardiovascular disease is very common these days.

10.) Excessive: too much
There was an excessive amount of fat tissue.

11.) Mechanism: a system of part working together in a machine
The new mechanisms are amazing.

12.) Sedentary: tending to spend much time seated
The sedentary was way too excessive.

12.) Predisposed: Make someone inclined to a specific attitude
That young lady was predisposed to this topic.

13.) Syndrome: a group of symptoms that contention occur together or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms
This girl has Down syndrome and it is very heartbreaking.
